IALEI, formerly the International
Association of Family Entertainment Centers
(IAFEC) represents and supports operators of a broad variety of
entertainment
centers including family fun centers, children's entertainment
and/or education centers, bowling centers, skating centers,
location based entertainment centers, etc. IALEI sponsors
Fun Expo, the number one trade show for our industry, to be held
September 21-23, 2000, at the Las Vegas
Convention Center in Las Vegas. The highly rated seminar
program begins on
the previous day and runs for three days. IALEI also
conducts the Oglebay Entertainment Business Institute (OEBI) at
the Oglebay Resort each January. OEBI is a comprehensive
two-year program in which students spend one week each January
studying all the aspects of successful operation of an
entertainment facility. IALEI also publishes a wide
variety of how-to
manuals and research reports, as well as a monthly newsletter,
Fun Extra, and
the monthly Q&A fax, Fun Fax. The Association boasts a
variety of committees
and councils run by volunteers. Six of these are
"Councils" whose members
are experts in critical areas of entertainment center management
- Games/ Redemption, Sales/ Marketing, Food & Beverage,
Children's Entertainment,
Operations and Major Attractions. These volunteers
contribute their expertise to the Association and its members
with the goal of improving operations throughout the industry.
